The US FCC Regulations In the United States the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted a Report and Order FCC 02-48 on February 14, 2002. In this decision, 24 GHz UWB vehicular radar systems are allowed to operate according to the emission limits shown in Figure 8.
This rulemaking mainly addressed impulse and BPSK SRR with an instantaneous occupied bandwidth of more than 500 MHz. Second Report and Order 04-285 On December 16, 2004, the FCC released a second Report and Order FCC 04-285 that revised the rules regarding ultra-wideband transmission systems. This decision authorizes SRR devices that use a frequency carrier hopping or other modulation techniques with an instantaneous occupied bandwidth of at least 10 MHz. The emission mask of this second R&O is shown in Figure 9.
